Survival tips

The final assignments and exams are almost here.

The Library can help you succeed!

Your Library resources

  • Your academic librarians have prepared subject guides to the most useful sources of research for your subject area (Subject LibGuides).
  • Setting alerts mean that you can even research while you sleep (Keeping up to date).
  • Speed up your requests for books and journal articles, not in the library collection, by using the interlibrary loan form (Inter library loans).
  • Use RefWorks to manage your references: Refworks.
  • If you need advice on literature searching you can book a tutorial with your academic librarian: Tutorials.
  • The Library has archives and special collections available for you to access

For more tips on effectively managing your time see: Time management.

Take a break

To relax and refocus it is really important to take the time to have a break. Making sure you eat well and stay hydrated is important.

If you don’t want to leave the Library, you will find The Learning Café, vending machines and drinking water on the ground floor.

Aim high!

Whether you just want a few tips or a more in-depth tutorial to discuss your academic work, we can help you succeed:

  • For support in developing your academic skills visit the Learning Hub in person or online
  • Attend a Succeed@Tees workshop (workshops) or take an online tutorial
  • Enhance your writing style by booking a tutorial with a Learning Advisor at: Tutorials

Find your learning space

Everyone has their own favourite spaces to study. The Library provides you with a whole range of flexible learning spaces to meet your needs, from silent study to group collaboration.
