PASS outcomes

As a participating student you can:

  • develop your skills as an independent learner
  • receive support and guidance from peers
  • increase your academic confidence.

What participating students thought about PASS:

  • I attended Pass sessions throughout my first year, this improved my confidence in the subject as well as helping me gain a better understanding of the topics and how to approach my work and assignments.
  • I found PASS really helpful this year and thinks it adds to a feeling of camaraderie on the course.
  • It helped with developing core subject knowledge.
  • My attendance of PASS sessions as a student has undoubtedly benefited my work.
  • The safe space to say what we think and to express our worries and focus on what we don’t understand.
  • The sessions were fantastic.
  • They have helped greatly and I feel like the results I have gained are because of the help I have got from these sessions.

As a PASS leader you can:

  • gain personal development opportunities
  • receive recognition for volunteering and skills gained
  • improve your employability by gaining in skills in:
    • time management
    • leadership
    • organisational skills
    • communication
    • teamwork
    • problem solving
  • By leading the sessions you can also gain more confidence

What PASS Leaders have gained from their experience:

  • This improved my skills and confidence in speaking in front of a large group of students.
  • I believe that I've helped not only the students but also myself to build a better understanding of the subject.
  • This training has allowed me to develop skills and grow in confidence in speaking in front of others, practise active listening skills and learn techniques to motivate others to attend PASS sessions. It was a great experience and the people I met in the sessions were encouraging, accepted and encouraged me to participate in the training fully.
  • We have to be creative and innovate an activity on spot depending on what the students like to cover. This, therefore, has enhanced my adaptability as well as interpersonal confidence.
