Planning

Keeping to the word count

It’s important that you keep a check on the word count. In your plan, allocate words to each theme. Keep a check on this as you’re writing so that you don’t go over. Once you have written something, it is very difficult to cut it. Don’t write too much on a section you are happier with and barely cover others. You won’t get many more marks for the area you’re happier with and you may miss all the potential marks from the other areas. Our guide on editing your work gives you more ideas on how to write concisely.

Keeping to your plan

Once you start writing your assignment, keep going back to your plan to make sure you haven’t missed anything out.
