Interlibrary Loans

If we do not have a journal article either electronically or in print you may be able to use our Interlibrary Loans Service to obtain the article. 

In order to use this service you need to fall within the following categories of student:

  • Research student
  • Post graduate student
  • Final year student requiring items for their final year research project/dissertation
  • 2nd year student requiring items for their final year research project/dissertation.

The Interlibrary Loans LibGuide has relevant online forms to make requests and more details about the Interlibrary Loans service.

Secure Electronic Delivery (SED)

You can opt to have your journal articles sent to you via SED (email), however, you need to install File open plug-in to your PC in order to do this.  More details about this can be found on the SED LibGuide.

SCONUL Access Scheme

SCONUL Access Scheme is a co-operative venture between higher education libraries enabling university staff, postgraduate research students, part-time, distance, and placement students to borrow material from other libraries. In addition, there is a provision for full-time students and for staff to use other libraries on a reference only basis. Membership is open to any higher education institution in the UK and over half are now members.

Using the British Library

Students can use the British Library Documentation Centre at Boston Spa near Wetherby for reference purposes.

Students can, under certain circumstances, use the British Library Reading Room in London.
