Timetable of activities week 2, 21 - 25 February 2022

Lunch and Learn: The Experience Exchange

Come and join our student guest speakers who are sharing a life experience they’ve overcome. These talks will be 10-15 minutes with 5 minutes of discussion time at the end.

The talks will include:

  • Anxiety and being a student
  • Dealing with grief
  • Overcoming addiction
  • Breaking body stereotypes

Stability ball session

Rolling around on a giant ball is not only lots of fun but a great way of strengthening your core (especially your tummy) muscles!

Stand Tall and Be Counted

A beginner boxing session used to not only improve fitness (in a fun and interactive way) but to also build confidence and help you feel a little bit taller and stand prouder! Please email Victoria.Brown@tees.ac.uk to book a place.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Pit Stop

This is an informal strategy focussed drop in, to provide quick tips and tricks to manage your mental health and wellbeing. You can come along and grab a strategy from our techniques tree and leave your own techniques to share with others. Let’s grow the tree together! (SLB Ground floor)

Anxiety workshop

Want to learn more about anxiety, why not sign up to this workshop? Anxiety is an inevitable and necessary aspect of human existence that cannot be eliminated. The aim of the workshop is to help you understand anxiety better, with a view to recognising it as a reliable source of information that highlights a life issue which needs to be addressed.

Students Supporting Students Zoom Group 

The Students Supporting Students Group is ran via the Students Union and provides a safe space for students to engage in general conversation with other students via Zoom.

Conversation can be about anything for example, how university is going, what events are coming up or even TV programmes. There are no expectations for students to share any sensitive information during the group – this is more for a relaxing chat over a cuppa and to make friends along the way!

Mental Health Drop In

Have a query about mental health support or what’s available to you? Come along to our mental health drop in and have an informal chat with an adviser. Please note, the drop in is not a private appointment, however an adviser can arrange this for you within the drop in. (SLB Lounge)

Teesside Sport fun run

To mark University Mental Health Day and to celebrate the end of the BRIT challenge, we would like to invite you to take part in our Teesside Sport fun run. This event will take place on University campus and will be a signed 1 mile flat route starting and finishing at the Olympia building 3G pitch. (Meet Olympia Building)

Talking Shop

Talking shop is a new initiative that launches on University Mental Health Day.

This is a safe space for you to turn up and give an ‘internal weather check’ to say how you are feeling and share any experiences you feel may be useful to other students. The session includes a mindfulness exercise and the chance to interact with new people. (SLB Creator Lab)

The Sleep Session drop in

Come along to our drop-in on sleep, an opportunity to help further your knowledge about its’ impact and factors that may be hindering your ability to sleep efficiently.  We hope you can join us and gain some information and self-help tips which may improve your sleep and support good sleep hygiene.

Yoga

Breathe, stretch, and flow into your day with an invigorating and energising yoga class. Feel stretched, relaxed, and ready to go with this 30-minute class. Booking is required and places are limited.
