What is PressReader?

Teesside University Students and Staff can access PressReader for free.

PressReader has over 7000 newspapers and magazines from over 100 countries in 60 different languages. UK Broadsheet and Tabloid newspapers including The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and Daily Mail plus many more.

Issues of magazines and newspapers appear as they would do in print as soon as they are published. Contains full text of issues published in the last 365 days for most of the titles that are available (NB. The Guardian is available for 2 weeks)

How to access PressReader

You can access and read publications as a guest reader by choosing PressReader from the Databases link on the Library website homepageYou must go via the Library homepage to authenticate.

To have more features and personalization you can register for a PressReader account. This will allow you to set up your favourite publications and set up email alerts when a new issue of your favourite publication has been released. 

  • click on the Sign In option, in the top right hand corner of the screen
  • choose  New user? sign up now then enter your details as requested on screen
  • choose your email communication preferences and create your account

 

You can also download the PressReader app , after 7 days the App no longer recognises your previous login, to activate a further 7 day period, login to PressReader via the link in A-Z databases on the Library homepage. You must login from the Library homepage and re-authenticate to continue to use PressReader after the 7 days has expired.

Please note: Staff accessing PressReader off campus  via Direct Access will need to disconnect DA whilst using PressReader,, please contact libraryhelp@tees.ac.uk if you need help with this.

Use of browers

MS Internet Explorer was retired in June 2022 by Microsoft. For this reason, PressReader stopped support for Explorer in July 2022.

Please make sure you're accessing PressReader with the latest version of the following browsers: Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari.

Auto - Translate

Auto-Translate allows you to read the world’s best publications in your native language.

This is how it works:

  • Step 1: In the app, open your desired publication.
  • Step 2: Click on the title you want to read in Text View. Tap on the three dots and select Translate.
  • Step 3: Choose the language you would like to translate to.
  • Step 4: When prompted: "Enable automatic translation for these languages?" click YES.

Automatically, the full publication will be translated to your desired language. Any other publications with the same origin language will automatically be translated as well. For more information, on how to do this, or for help with language preferences, click here.
