Qualitative research

General considerations

Research needs to be conducted with the best of intentions and must not inflict harm or distress on participants, the wider public and yourself.

This is one of the reasons any proposals have to go through a process of approval before any research is allowed to proceed.

(TIP: allow time in your project time-scale for this approval to be gained)

Because this is an essential factor in any research, most textbooks have chapters on ethics.
