You can pay to join the Library as an external member if you are 18 or over.

Access control gates are fitted at the entrance to Middlesbrough Campus Library. Library members need a TUSC to enter and exit the library.
Please remember to swipe in and swipe out with your TUSC each time, otherwise you may have problems entering the Library on subsequent visits.
Please note that during self service hours access to the Library is via TUSC only for Teesside University Students & Staff only.
There are 2 main categories of external membership, Blue or Gold. You can apply for new memberships (you need to be 18 or over) and for membership renewals online using the link to the online form below or ask at the iZone. Responses to requests will be given within 7 days.
Once your request has been approved, you will need to provide proof of identification which includes your name, address and date of birth. The library will provide you with a Teesside University smart card (TUSC), this is required to borrow material from the library. The iZone staff will capture your image for your TUSC and provide you with your PIN. You need to be 18 or over to become a member of Teesside University Library.
NB. Institutional members can request to be invoiced for the membership cost. Please ask at the Library iZone for further information.
There are a number of concessions in place with other organisations which may entitle you to a free blue membership, as follows:
External users may apply to the Director of the Library for a remission of the borrowing subscription in cases of hardship by writing to: Student & Library Services, Teesside University, Middlesbrough Tees Valley TS1 3BX, or email email@example.com
Membership can be renewed up to 30 days prior to expiry and is subject to approval. To renew your membership complete the online form above, you will be required to arrange payment or provide proof of eligibility for a concession.
All existing loans will also need to be returned and re-issued to you as part of the renewal process.
You will be given a PIN when you collect your card or you can ask for it at the library iZone or contact the library to request that it is posted out to you.
Your membership allows you to borrow up to 6 standard loan items. These items have white date labels. Please note fines for late return of borrowed items will apply. Check the Library Catalogue to find out what books we have in stock, reserve items or renew your loans
