Using the Library

To get started using library resources you need your:

  • Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • IT username and password
  • Teesside University Smart Card (TUSC)

 Your TUSC allows you to:

  • Borrow and renew books - you will need your username and PIN to do this
  • Access to University buildings and the Library during self service hours
  • To use the MyPrint/photocopying system in the Library and around campus
  • To make cashless payments at catering outlets throughout campus
  • Use as a form of identification (to visit other libraries as well)

Access to your Library account is via your University IT username, e.g. X1234567 and 4 digit PIN (which you need to set up).

Your TUSC and IT account will be arranged by your Teesside University tutor. Should you need a replacement TUSC, speak to your Teesside University tutor.

                   TUSC

Your PIN is unique to you and is used as extra security. You will need it to check or renew your loans via My Account.

Staff and students can set up their own PINs via the URL https://apps.tees.ac.uk/mylogin by selecting the option to "Manage Password & Security Details'.

Your IT username and password is given to you by ITDS. It enables you to:
  • Access online databases, electronic journals and electronic books from off campus (click on the tab Off-Campus Access to E-Resources to find out how)
  • Access your student email account
You can change your password using the link below.

You will also be provided with a University email account and email address once you have enrolled. This is where any University correspondence will be sent, e.g. overdue notices, reservation notices and other notifications. Please check it regularly.
