Student & Library Services Winter Vacation Guide 2025-26: Building access and help available

Access to campus buildings

The University winter vacation commences on the 15 December 2025. Christmas treeSLS support services and the Students’ Union will operate as normal until 5pm on 19 December 2025.

The Library building, a designated warm space for our students, remains open 24/7 on a self service basis throughout the vacation, access is via TUSC. Staffed service will resume on Monday 5 January 2026.

In addition to the Library which is a designated warm space for our students Warm Welcome is a national site promoting warm spaces across the UK Find a Warm Welcome Space Today

Student Life Building closes 6pm, Friday 19 December 2025 and reopens 8am, Monday 5 January 2026.

The Buttery closes 5pm, Friday 19 December 2025 and reopens 8am, Monday 5 January 2026.

Olympia Building sports facilities and The Gym closes 5pm, Friday 19 December 2025 (last admission to the gym will be 3.30pm) and reopens 7am, Monday 5 January 2026.

Teesside University Students' Union will be open as a warm space with a range of games and interactive items available for students to use between 9am and 5pm,  Monday 15 to Friday 19  December.  The Students' Union Shop will be open 9am to 3pm Monday 15 December to Thursday 18  December. 

All Student Union buildings close 5pm, 19 December and reopen on 5 January 2026.

SafeZone - peace of mind 24/7 on campus

SafeZone is a free app for staff and students that connects you to the University security team if you ever need first-aid or urgent help when you're on campus.   Use the link below for information on downloading and registering.

Elm Tree Medical Centre

Elm Tree Medical Centre a local NHS General Practice will be in the Library (11am - 2pm) over the vacation period on the following dates, to help students and staff get set up with a local GP, as well as giving more information on when to reach out to your GP and the best ways to do this.

Catering over the vacation

University catering venues will close at 4pm, on Friday 19 December and will reopen on Monday 5 January.  

Students can pop in to the Library for a free hot drink and a chat between 10am and 4pm on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 of December. There's also board games if you fancy that.

Vending is available on Floor 1 in the Library during the Christmas closure period.
