Student & Library Services Winter Vacation Guide 2024-25: Building access and help available

Access to campus buildings

The University winter vacation commences on the 16 December 2024. Christmas tree SLS support services and the Students’ Union will operate as normal until 5pm on 20 December 2024.

The Library building, a designated warm space for our students, remains open 24/7 on a self service basis throughout the vacation, access is via TUSC.

In addition to the Library which is a designated warm space for our students Warm Welcome is a national site promoting warm spaces across the UK Find a Warm Welcome Space Today

Student Life Building closes 6pm, Friday 20 December 2024 and reopens 8am, Monday 6 January 2025.

The Buttery closes 5pm, Friday 20 December and reopens 8am, Monday 6 January 2025.

Olympia Building sports facilities and The Gym closes 5pm, Friday 20 December (last admission to the gym will be 3.30pm) and reopens 7am, Monday 6 January 2025.

Teesside University Students' Union will be open as a warm space with a range of games and interactive items available for students to use between 9am and 11am Monday 16th to Friday 20th of December and the Students Union Shop will be open 9am to 3pm Monday 16 of December to Friday 20 of December.

All Student Union buildings close 5pm, 20 December and reopen on 6 January 2025

SafeZone - peace of mind 24/7 on campus

SafeZone is a free app for staff and students that connects you to the University security team if you ever need first-aid or urgent help when you're on campus.   Use the link below for information on downloading and registering.

Elm Tree Medical Centre

Elm Tree Medical Centre a local NHS General Practice will be in the Library (11am - 3pm) over the vacation period on the following dates, to help students and staff get set up with a local GP, as well as giving more information on when to reach out to your GP and the best ways to do this.

Blood pressure checks, height and weight checks are also available. If you have any questions about which services are available to you on the NHS, pop along and say hello!

Catering over the vacation

University catering venues are now closed. Venues will reopen on 6 January, with the exception of  79 (Curve) & Vita (Bios) which will reopen 20 January.

Students can pop in to the Library for a free hot drink and chat between 10am and 4pm on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 of December.

Vending is available on Floor 1 in the Library during the Christmas closure period.
