2025-26 Reading lists

Person holding a digital screen showing a shelf of booksCurrent reading lists (2025-26)

Your 2025-26 reading lists are now available on RLO (Reading Lists Online) and are visible to students.

What you need to do to ensure students have access to appropriate resources.

Please prioritise your Semester 1 lists as soon as possible (if the list is prefixed with Subject to Approval or Subject to Review wait until Library staff remove the prefix or ask for help).  You’ll be contacted again when the library is ready to receive lists for Semester 2 modules.

  • Login to Reading Lists Online (RLO) http://readinglists.tees.ac.uk to check the list details and contents are up to date.
  • Amend, add or remove any items as necessary.  When adding items to lists please make use of Discovery to identify relevant materials held in the Library's extensive collection of book titles, electronic journal titles and articles, rather than requesting new resources.  To support the blended model of delivery you should prioritise online resources rather than print resources as far as possible https://libguides.tees.ac.uk/RLO/onlineresources
  • Check that links to websites, journals and articles work as Library staff do not check these.
  • Publish the list OR Request Review
    • If you’ve amended your list in any way you must click on the ‘Publish’ icon.
    • If you have not made any amendments, you need to ‘Request Review’ (found under the Edit menu).

Both of these actions notify the Library that the list has been checked.

Why this is important?

Updating your lists has many benefits:

  • Advance funds - It is especially important that reading lists for undergraduate students are up to date so students can spend their Teesside University Advance funds wisely.
  • Accessibility – Prioritising ebooks and online resources reflects the blended model of delivery and removing out of date items ensures resources are relevant.

Adding resources

Adding items

When adding items to lists please make use of the Library's extensive collection of book titles, electronic journal titles and articles, and other formats of materials rather than requesting new resources.

To add resources which are already in stock in the Library use the Discovery search tool to find books (print and electronic), journal articles and conference papers. Sign in to Discovery to view full availability of resources.

The short video below shows how to add books and journal articles on to your reading list using Discovery.

Written instructions of how to add different items on to your reading list are below.

If an article/paper is not available via the library's subscriptions or open access please see the Scanning for Teaching page as it may be possible to supply a copyright cleared version.  It may also be possible to use the Scanning for Teaching service to digitise a chapter from a book (or up to 10% of the book) which isn't available in ebook format.

Use the Subject Guides to find journal titles and databases that are relevant for your modules.  If the journal or database you want to add is not available via the Library please contact your Academic Librarian

PressReader gives access to over 7000 newspapers and magazines.
