Need to use the mobile shelving?

The Library mobile shelving can be operated by using the control panels on the side of the shelving. You can do this yourself or you can ask a member of staff for help.

To use the mobile shelving

  1. Ensure there are no people or objects in the aisle before moving shelves

  2. If any red squares are lit, press the square to turn off

  3. Press the arrow that points in the direction of where you want the cabinets to open.

Control panel on mobile shelving

The red square in the centre can be pressed to stop the shelves.

Arrows turn blue once they are pressed.

Tip: Press the arrow on the furthest shelf in the direction you require, several shelves will move together.

To stop a moving cabinet

Press the square in the centre of the arrows to stop a cabinet - it will light up red.

Safety beams are fitted to the bottom of each unit – put your foot along the bottom edge of the shelves to stop it.

Safety and courtesy

Do not push the cabinets or climb on shelves
