Library Refurbishment

Floors 2 and 3 of the Middlesbrough Campus Library are now closed for the refurbishment.

Phases 3 and 4 of the Library refurbishment will see floors 2 and 3 transformed.  Refurbishment works will begin on Saturday 27 May and will be completed by 9 October 2017

Study environment

Middlesbrough Campus Library offers a variety of study environments, in zones that are designated by floor.

The Ground floor of the Library provides space for social learning including group working and networking. Please remember that this is a learning space and the focus should still be on working. Drinks and food (not takeaways) are permitted on this floor.

Floor 1 is designated for collaborative learning. Drinks and cold snacks are permitted on this floor.

Floor 2 is designated for individual quiet study but may confer occasionally. Drinks and cold snacks are permitted on this floor.

Floor 3 is designated for silent study.  Water only is permitted on this floor.

The Postgraduate Space is situated on Floor 4 and has a designated quiet space and silent space for postgraduate students and researcher students only. Access is via TUSC.

Floor 3 - Silent study

Floor 3 is designated for silent study and research.

Please ensure laptops, phones etc are switched to mute, and leave the floor before answering calls.  Water only is permitted on this floor.


Too noisy?

If someone is disturbing your study by chatting or making a noise, please inform a member of staff or email stating the following details:

  • 'noise' in the subject line
  • the nature of the noise/disturbance
  • the floor number
  • your location (e.g. computer cluster student union side)
  • brief details of the problem

This mailbox is monitored 09:00 - 17:00 Monday-Friday, outside of these hours please speak to a member of staff.

Lost property

Enquiries relating to anything lost in the Library should be directed to the Library iZone, email or telephone 01642 342100. During self-service hours queries should be directed to Campus Security based on the ground floor of the Library.
