Does the University have a room or space just for researchers? 

Yes. The Buttery is a dedicated postgrad building which is available for all staff, postgraduate students and researchers. You will need your TUSC to access this area. The Buttery is opening hours are available at https://www.tees.ac.uk/depts/lis/opening.cfm

 

Can I use other university libraries? 

Teesside University is a member of the SCONUL Access scheme. This is a partnership between higher education libraries that enables staff and students to borrow material from other libraries. You can also use the British Library Centre at Boston Spa near Wetherby for reference purposes. See British Library reading rooms for information on using the British Library.

 

Where can I get more information and support and find out about workshops?

The Library has a wide range of online resources that can help you with your research and literature searching on our LibGuides, you can view all or By Subject LibGuide. The resources include: guides, videos, workbooks, recommended further reading and useful links.

The University and Library also offer a range of workshops to support your study and research skills. Succeed@Tees and Succeed@Research calendars have details of up and coming workshops. 

For Researchers and PhD students, ENRICH (researcher development programme) takes a blended approach to learning, with a mix of independent e-learning, webinars, peer mentoring, and guided tasks. You can book onto these session via their booking form

For International students the English Language Centre (ELC) offers a range of free in-sessional services covering a broad spectrum of areas including: academic study skills, research and study skills, and run a language Café. 

If you are an academic, a researcher or a doctoral student (level 8) you can book an appointment with the Research Support team who can provide advice on a variety of topics including: literature searching, keeping up to date and making your research open access. Where should I deposit my research? 

Please add your research outputs to TeesRep, the University repository and the library will check your record before making it publicly available on the research portal. If you have any queries please email researchportal@tees.ac.uk

We also have TU Data Repository, the University repository for research data, all datasets go through a moderation process within the University prior to publication. You can choose to make your data openly accessible (and choose an appropriate licence), restrict access or set an embargo for access. If you have any queries please email researchportal@tees.ac.uk

 

Where should I deposit my doctorial thesis? 

Please send a copy of your final thesis (after any corrections that have been approved by the examination board) to researchportal@tees.ac.uk and a member of the team will be in contact with you. 

 

How do I use ORCiD?

ORCiD is the unique identifier for all your research. It keeps it all in one place and distinguishes you from every other researcher. 

 

I am a PhD student and I can't access my library account or log in to resources? 

As a PhD researcher please make sure that you are using your student number not your staff (U) number to access resources and library account: this includes logging with your student credential on eduroam when trying to access library resources on campus via a personal device and if using a networked PC please log in with your student credentials.
