Support and guidance

The Library has a wide range of online resources that can help you with your research and academic study skills in our LibGuides and Subject LibGuides. The resources include: detailed descriptions and instructions, videos, workbooks, recommended further reading and useful links.

The University and Library also offer a range of workshops to support your study and research skills. Succeed@Tees and Succeed@Research calendars have details of up and coming workshops. 

For Researchers and PhD students, ENRICH (researcher development programme) takes a blended approach to learning, with a mix of independent e-learning, webinars, peer mentoring, and guided tasks. You can book onto these session via their booking form

For International students the English Language Centre (ELC) also offers a range of free in-sessional services covering a broad spectrum of areas including: academic study skills, research and study skills, and run a language Café. 

If you are an academic, an early career researcher or a post graduate you can also book an appointment with the Research Support team who can provide tutorials on a variety of topics including: literature searching, keeping up to date and making your research open access.   • Induction (Academic staff, Early Career Researchers, Post Graduates)
  • Reference management software (Endnote, Refworks, etc)
  • Scholarly communications 
  • Getting published open access
  • Research Data Management
  • Literature searching (including systematic reviews)
  • Critical appraisal

 

If you are an academic, an early career researcher or a post-graduate you can book an appointment with Daisy Campbell (Assistant Academic Librarian for Research Support) for help and advice with:

  • Reference management software (Endnote, Refworks, etc)
  • Scholarly communications 
  • Getting published open access
  • Research Data Management
  • Literature searching (not systematic reviews)
  • Basic NVivo (importing files, creating classifications, and manual coding)
